{{Meta box}} is a series of meta templates that can be used to create information box templates summarising facts about the subject of the article. Templates in this series should not be used directly in articles.

Note that there is actually no {{Meta box}} template as such, i.e. using this on a page won't produce any result. This page exists only as a documentation cover for the series of templates.

All the actual meta templates to be used when creating an information box template are sub-pages of this one. Use several of them together to create an information box template in the usual format (typically a narrow table on the right of the article page when displayed on a PC screen). Explanation about how to use them and their parameters is available on their respective page.

Components of an information box template[edit source]

{{Meta box/Header}}
Always use this at the beginning of an information box template: it creates the table containing the whole information box content.
{{Meta box/Row}}
Inserts a standard row containing information in the form of a data label in the left column and a data value in the right column.
{{Meta box/Image}}
Inserts a special row containing an image with its caption, or a pair of images side-by-side with a common caption.
{{Meta box/Area}}
Inserts a special row that can be used to display content for which the more specific layouts (such as Row or Image) are not appropriate.
{{Meta box/Separator}}
Inserts a separator can be used to distinguish between groups of information rows within the information box.
{{Meta box/Section}}
Inserts a special row displaying a section title, like a header for a group of information rows.
{{Meta box/Footer}}
Always use this at the end of an information box template: it closes the table containing the whole information box content.
